Blog 9: Lesson 1 Reflection
1. I am most proud of how well I was getting across to the audience and how they felt very engaged because that is something that I don't usually notice in previous presentations.
2. I would give myself a P. The reason why I believe that I deserve a P was because I was engaging and explained my topic thoroughly but it did not seem to go above expectations.
3. What really worked for me was the everyday life examples; that really helped me get the message across a lot better.
4. I might want to explain certain things a bit more I fell as if I rushed through some things without knowing if everyone had clarity on it.

- reference back to other documents that can lower credibility of your opponent
- Look back into controversial events that your opponent might have committed
3. The most important source that I have used so far was a Law review explaining the constitutional status of Tort Law that really helped explain what can be won from such trials as well as what applies.

Bonus October Blog
So I have still not been able to get a mentor however I have sent an application to the Los Angeles Superior Court for any available internships. Sooner or later I should get a call or notification back from them to see where it might be best to place me as well as a formal interview and a background check. That should be any day now.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval
1. What I plan on doing is further research on negligence. I plan on finding more readings on negligence and developing further analysis. I plan on taking most of the 30 hours researching and taking notes based upon what I find. The rest will be writing further analysis in a review of it all.
2. I plan on researching heavily from the beginning of the component and from there take notes upon what I read. That should take some time majority of the 30 hours required. The rest should be developing a review upon the notes of my research and show a great deal of understanding of the material I researched.
3.This should give me a much better understanding of how negligence law works because I take peer reviewed research from many different sources and then articulately portray it in a review of my own.

Blog 6: Second Interview Preparation
1. As of right now I do not have a mentor but there is one pending who really needs an intern within their personal injury department at the Law offices of Mauro Fiore Jr. in West Covina. So hopefully it goes through and I can work there and find a new mentor.
2. Even though I do not have a mentor at the moment but I can get one before the interview is due and when I do acquire a mentor I would ask him/her these questions:
1. What school did you attend and why?
2. What made you want to pursue personal injury?
3. Why not any other type of law?
4. What was the reason for coming to this specific law firm?
5. What is the history behind this law firm?

Blog 5: Mentorship and Research Reflection
1. Unfortunately my mentor has a new schedule and won't be able to mentor me anymore so as of now I have to find a new mentor and so far I have one pending in West Covina a personal injury law firm. Hopefully it will go through and I can work there it's not far from home and it can really help with my senior project.
2. The most important article I have read so far would be "Elements of a negligence case". It really helped me see what makes a negligence case and what I have to do to make sure the case is legitimate.

Blog 4: Interview Preperation
1. I plan to interview my grandmother, she is a librarian at my old elementary school, the reason why I plan to interview her is because she has lived for quite some time and she seems to stay in touch with certain topics, law being one of them. With her wide range of experience she might give me good information for the foundation of my topic.
2. I won't ask too many additional questions; most likely three.
What comes to mind when you think of negligence law?
What significant events have you seen that relates to negligence law?
What personal events have you encountered that ties into negligence?

From the show and tell on Friday I learned that Claire could do her independent component by taking a language course. What I've been thinking of doing for my independent component is taking a law course at Cal Poly since I'm a young scholar. I haven't found an open class yet but there is a class that does not require prerequisites that is not currently open because they do not have an instructor for the course yet. As soon as there is an instructor I am going to work as hard as possible to get that class.

1. My topic is negligence law
2. My EQ might be somewhere along the lines of "What does a negligence lawyer need to do to build a strong case?"

Blog 2: Summer Mentorship
1. Mentorship Log
2. Place of work Berman Berman Berman Schneider and Lowary LLC in Riverside (951-682-8300)
3. Will I ever have time for a personal life?
Am I resourceful enough for this type of career?
Does this career require me to have a great memory and think on my toes?
4. I learned one crucial thing about lawyers, they have to be resilient and think on your toes. This is important because without these skills lawyers would not be able to successfully win many court cases. Also it teaches you to think well under pressure when given a terrifying problem you can easily and quickly solve it.
5. I believe that this will be my topic, business law, I genuinely enjoyed working with business lawyers because they show many great characteristics and make a very decent living. I might not have done a lot but I learned a lot just from observing.

Senior Presentaions
The senior presentations that I saw varied. I saw presentations that ranged from animal adoptions, to biofuels. Some questions that i would like to ask is more along the lines of the project in general. For instance I would like to get a head start on what I would have to do, and I heard from every senior that they had independent components. What are the independent components? That is really the only question that I have for the seniors. The most important thing that I saw from the presentations is preparation. I saw many presentations where they seemed so nervous and unprepared that they made they're presentation very unprofessional. More along the lines of what I would like to do with my project, I would actually really like to go into negligence law or personal injury. I really enjoy civil law more than criminal because it's not proving who's guilty but whether or not someone is due compensation based on their situation. I really enjoy law in general, it always peaked my interests. Now currently I am looking into local law firms that could be in need of an intern for the summer. So far I have not received anything back yet, but, lawyers are generally busy. Soon enough I should hear back.
